Da Nang city will be the center of attention for golf lovers in Vietnam when it’ll be hosting the BRG Open Golf Championship Da Nang 2022. This is the first time the beautiful coastal city of Vietnam has had the honor to orchestrate a major regional golf event, which falls under the Asian Development Tour system and will bring together talented golfers from Asia, as well as countries around the world.
BRG Open Golf Championship Danang 2022 is the first event that will be held by ADT in Vietnam.
Established in 2010 as a playground for professional golfers, the Asian Development Tour has been well received by golfers around the world. This is also a way for golfers to snatch the ticket to the Asian Tour, similar to the Korn Ferry Tour of the PGA Tour or The Challenge Tour of the DP World Tour.
In detail, the top 5 golfers who won the most prize money in one season of ADT will be entitled to participate in the Asian Tour the next season. Asian Development Tour tournaments have a quite attractive prize fund that falls anywhere between 70,000 USD to 110,000 USD.
During their most flourishing period, ADT used to hold 28 events in 2015. However, in recent years, due to the pandemic, the number of tournaments has decreased significantly. The last time a full season of ADT was held was in 2019 with 19 events and a total prize fund of 1.4 million USD. In 2020, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, only one tournament was held, the Boonchu Ruangkit Championship, an event coordinated with the All Thailand Golf Tour.
In 2022, there will be a total of 12 tournaments organized by ADT, mainly in Southeast Asian countries such as Thailand or Indonesia. BRG Open Golf Championship Danang 2022 is honored to be the only tournament by the Asian Development Tour to be held in Vietnam. This will be an opportunity for Vietnamese golf to win regconition from international friends, along with that is the ambition to bring more major tournaments in the world to Vietnam in the near future.
